According to a report by talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, West Ham United are leading the race to sign goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion – prompting many Hammers fans to rave as GSB allegedly eye the possible ‘great signing’.

Johnstone, who has attracted praise for his performances this season, also earned his first ever England call up by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate recently.

The 28-year-old, as a result of his fine form, is in high demand – but Crook believes West Ham are the frontrunners for his signature.

David Moyes is apparently on the look out for an eventual heir to current number one Lukasz Fabianski, with the Poland international recently putting pen to paper on a new deal.

The Evening Standard report that Johnstone could even cost as little as £10 million, especially considering WBA’s relegation.

Sunderland are currently stuck in a horrible rut.

Lee Johnson’s men haven’t won in five matches and in the space of a fortnight; they’ve seen their automatic promotion hopes dusted.

On the chalkboard

Sunderland’s chances of securing promotion this season won’t be made any easier by the news emerging regarding Aiden McGeady.

The Irishman missed their 2-2 draw with Hull City in midweek because of a bruised foot which, given he’s got 13 assists to his name this term, was a huge blow.

It doesn’t look good for McGeady’s involvement this weekend either. Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, Johnson admitted: “I would put him at 50-50.”

The boss continued: “He is tough and he wants to play, but his foot is still very bruised even though it is only a superficial injury, if you like – it’s nothing bone or ligament related.”

Consequently, the manager may have to start thinking about alternatives.

The solution

When the Black Cats drew with Hull it was Jordan Jones who started on McGeady’s favoured left side.

Next to Jones were Josh Scowen and Lynden Gooch but they put in two different performances.

Gooch stood out on the right-hand side and was a menace for the Tigers’ backline. Scowen, however, isn’t particularly adept in forward areas.

Thus, in order to extract more from Sunderland’s front line, Johnson should consider unleashing Chris Maguire.

The Scot hasn’t started for the Mackems since the current manager’s very first game in charge, a 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

That’s a run of outings stretching back to the 5th December, a painstaking 27 straight league matches.

Though, there was a spell within that, specifically towards the end of February and the beginning of March where he showed his quality.

Dubbed “very talented” by Steve Parkin, he hasn’t shown many glimpses of that apart from a three-game run.

During the aforementioned time frame, the 32-year-old scored a superb goal against Crewe while picking up assists against Fleetwood and Swindon.

Maguire made his feelings felt in a recent U23 match. He let rip from range and scored a breathtaking strike from long-range against Burnley.

Having endured a spell in the youth team to get his fitness up to scratch, Johnson needs to bring him back into the first team.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has praised David Moyes’ transfer policy of signing players from the Championship.

Having seen big money signings like Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller – both signed by Manuel Pellegrini – fail to live up to expectations, the Hammers boss has recently been shopping in the second tier.

His first signing back at the London Stadium was Jarred Bowen from Hull, who’s scored eight goals and laid on five assists in 34 Premier League appearances, following his arrival last January.

Meanwhile, Craig Dawson and Said Benrahma have come in from Watford and Brentford respectively, whilst Czech Republic duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal have both flourished since joining from Slavia Prague.

Then there’s January signing, Jesse Lingard, who’s been in tremendous form, but McAvennie lauded Moyes’ work in the Championship in particular.

He told Football FanCast:

“The best thing that is happening now is that David Moyes is buying the players. I’m not saying the chairman doesn’t do the deal, but David Moyes identifies the players that he wants, and he’s got a good eye for a player.

“I think there’s a lot of wonderful players in the Championship.

“There’s a lot of players doing great in the Championship that you would look at and go ‘he wouldn’t do it in the Premier League,’ but David has done well picking out the ones he has, and I can’t see him changing that.”

Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed he does not care about Danny Ings’ mentality for Euro 2020 and has said the striker must put Southampton first.

The £19.8m-valued ace has so far earned three caps for England, scoring once, and is in with an outside chance of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer’s showpiece.

However, ahead of the Saints’ clash with West Brom on Monday, Hasenhuttl claimed that Ings must concentrate on the St Mary’s Stadium outfit above all else. He said (via football365.com):

“If he has a (place in the) Euros or not, he is part of this club.

“He has a contract with this club, so that contract means he has to do everything and just to help us, this is the deal we made.

“I don’t care about the mentality for the Euros, this is something like a bonus for him.

“The most important thing is that he helps us win games, that he helps us in climbing the table and that he helps us maybe come into the FA Cup final.

“This is the deal we have with him, and so long as he is here, he tries to give his part to this deal and we give our part of the deal.

“We offer him everything that is possible to make him better – and this is how it should be with every player.”

Spot on

Of course, Ings will have eyes on the international tournament this summer, and he will no doubt want to be a part of the squad. However, as Hasenhuttl says, the Saints must come first, especially as they still have so much to play for. While the Saints are 10 points above the relegation zone as it stands (Sky Sports), they are not yet mathematically safe, and they also face Leicester City in the FA Cup semi-finals next weekend.

Ings’ future at Southampton remains uncertain as rumours continue to circle about a potential move away from the south coast. For now, though, he remains a Saints player, and as their top scorer he has a big role to play between now and the end of the season.

In a recent interview with Austrian media, reported Tottenham transfer target Marcel Sabitzer dropped a hint regarding a potential summer move.

Speaking to Laola1 (via Sport Witness), Sabitzer – who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the course of the past 18 months – claimed he is aware that his next transfer may be the final one of his career, with the Austrian outlet suggesting that the 27-year-old’s future is still up in the air as his contract expires in the summer of 2022.

According to Laola1, regarding a potential departure from RB Leipzig this summer, Sabitzer said: “There is nothing against it, but nothing for it either. I am relatively neutral. I know that I am at an age where it may be the last step. That’s why I let it go through my head.”

Indeed, with it being reported that Julian Nagelsmann is determined not to lose the £37.8m-rated midfielder for free at the end of his current deal, if the Austria international does not put pen to paper on a new contract with the Bundesliga side this summer, then he will be sold in the upcoming transfer window.

Transfer Tavern Take

With seven goals and three assists over the Austrian’s 23 league fixtures so far this season, it is no wonder that Jose Mourinho is claimed to be “extremely fascinated” by a move for Sabitzer this summer, as the 58-year-old’s Spurs side have struggled for goals from midfield this term.

With Bild reporting back in March that the 27-year-old will definitely not be signing a new deal with Die Roten Bullen this summer, it would seem there is very much a deal to be done for the midfielder in the coming months.

However, it is anyone’s guess whether it is indeed Spurs who manage to tempt the player – whom former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick dubbed a “remarkable” talent – to their club. If Tottenham can’t, expect others to try and land the Austrian.

Moise Kean sealing a return to Juventus to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Serie A side this summer can hand Ellis Simms his big break at Everton.

What’s the word?

According to Tuttosport, via Sport Witness, Kean is on a shortlist of potential options for Juventus to target at the end of the season amid doubt in Ronaldo’s long-term Bianconeri future.

The Portuguese icon has been linked with a potential return to Real Madrid three years after leaving the La Liga giants for €112m (£99m), and Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane refused to deny the chances of a reunion earlier this month.

But Juve CEO Fabio Paratici has dismissed the possibility of Ronaldo moving away from Turin at the close of the campaign, insisting that the 36-year-old remains the future of the Old Lady and will play into the final year of his current €30m-a-season (£500k-p/w) contract.

That has not stopped speculation arising in the Italian media, with Tuttosport suggesting that Kean could be lined up as a replacement for Ronaldo as the striker, currently on loan with Paris Saint-Germain, would be intrigued by a return to the Allianz Stadium.

Kean is also considered to be perfect for the vision that Juventus are attempting to build by helping bring down the average age of Andrea Pirlo’s squad, and could be targeted upon his return to Goodison Park this summer.

PSG are expected to try and retain the £53k-p/w forward in the next transfer window, too, with il Bianco Nero claiming at the start of the month that the Ligue 1 powerhouse will attempt to reach an agreement with the Toffees ‘at all costs’.

That cost could be in the region of €60-70m (£51.5-60m), with Fabrizio Romano stating on the Here We Go podcast last month that Carlo Ancelotti is a “big fan” of Kean and wants him back in royal blue next term, after scoring 15 goals in 27 games for the Parisian outfit.

Should Everton let Kean go?

Kean has clearly rediscovered his form during a year on loan in the French capital, having struggled to make the grade at Goodison Park following his £25m move from Juventus in 2019.

Whether Ancelotti wants him back or not remains to be seen, but allowing the 21-year-old to call time on his Toffees career after two years could open the door for Simms to make his first-team breakthrough after impressing during his brief time on loan with Blackpool so far.

Simms has scored three goals and provided two assists in nine League One games for the Seasiders since moving to Bloomfield Road in January, and earned the admiration of head coach Neil Critchley after a 3-0 win at Charlton Athletic last month.

“I think that is a good example of Ellis playing to his strengths,” Critchley said. “When he does what he’s good at and he does it continuously, then it shows what a handful he can be. He’s got pace, a physical presence and the attribute of running in behind.

“This is his first loan move playing men’s football and it’s a big step up from Under23s to senior football. He’s adapting, and on Saturday he showed real signs of progression and coping at the level.”

Simms is yet to make his first-team debut for Everton but has been included in four matchday squads since Ancelotti’s arrival, and boasts 17 goals in 36 games for the Blues’ U23s.

His route to the first-team could clear greatly with Kean joining Juventus or PSG, as Joshua King may also be on the move amid interest from Fenerbahce, leaving Cenk Tosun – should he return from a loan spell with Besiktas – as the only support for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

It is now up to Simms to prove that he is ready for that role as Blackpool look to edge closer to the League One play-off positions, and show Ancelotti that he can be Everton’s future.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer highlighted a lack of fitness as one of the reasons for why his old side have struggled so much this season.

With Wednesday losing their first two games under new manager Darren Moore, the most recent coming in a 3-0 loss away at Reading, it means they have now seen defeat in all of their last six fixtures heading into their clash against table-toppers Norwich City.

For Moore, there is obviously much to address if the Owls are to avoid relegation at the end of the campaign. And, in the eyes of Palmer, one of those areas is fitness.

Speaking just after Moore’s appointment last week, Palmer exclusively told FFC:

“For me, first and foremost, players have to be fit and they’ve got to have the spirit. So I think Darren’s got to assess that very, very quickly and where their level of fitness is. I mean, I watch them in games when I go back there and their level of fitness, it wasn’t great.”

Proficiency in front of goal will also be a huge concern for Moore. With just 24 goals in 34 league fixtures, Wednesday have the second-worst record when it comes to finding the back of the net in the Championship.

Defensively, their numbers make for much better reading, with the likes of Preston North End, Coventry City and Bristol City having all conceded more, perhaps giving Moore something to be optimistic about.

It now falls down to the former Doncaster Rovers and West Brom manager to strike more of a balance as his side look to beat the drop.

وأردف: “اللائحة واضحة وصريحة وتورط الحكم محمود البنا، وهذا الخطأ يستدعي إعادة المباراة”.

وأتم: “نُعاني من التحكيم ولكن الأمر زاد عن حده في مباراة المصري، نطالب بحقوقنا من اتحاد الكرة وننتظر إعادة المباراة”.

واختتم: “كنت أتمنى أن ينتظر عصام عبد الفتاح رئيس لجنة الحكام، تقرير الحكم قبل أن يخرج ليدافع عن الخطأ”.
