Takumi Minamino salary: How much does Japan star earn per week and annually at Monaco?

Everything you need to know about Takumi Minamino's salary details playing for Monaco

Japan international Takumi Minamino began his European journey with RB Salzburg before moving to Liverpool in the Premier League in 2020. However, he was low in the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp, which resulted in limited opportunities.

Minamino was loaned to Southampton in 2021 before returning to the Merseyside club. Later, in 2022, he joined French side AS Monaco.

The Japanese midfielder settled into life in France quickly, becoming a regular starter and performing consistently for the Ligue 1 club.

Minamino recently signed a contract extension with Monaco, keeping him at the club until 2027 with a significant pay raise. He is now one of the top earners in the Monaco squad. But exactly how much does he earn?

GOAL delved into the numbers with Capology and found out!

Only 23% duels won: Liverpool’s 4/10 flop was even worse than Elliott

Up to this point, Arne Slot’s Liverpool hadn’t really shown visible chinks in their armour, with an EFL Cup final on the horizon and a top spot in the Premier League very firmly in their grasp.

However, after Sunday afternoon’s disastrous trip to Devon, the Reds will be concerned about the strength of their full squad, as a much-changed Liverpool side crashed out of the FA Cup 1-0 to lower league opposition Plymouth Argyle.

Slot will be disappointed with a whole host of his reserve faces after this crushing defeat on the road, therefore, particularly when it comes to the lacklustre showing of Harvey Elliott, who gifted the Pilgrims the golden penalty that sealed their gigantic Cup upset.

The 9 greatest FA Cup upsets of all time

The FA Cup is famous for its giant-killing moments, but which are the greatest upsets in the competition’s history?

Harvey Elliott's performance in numbers

Indeed, this would have been viewed as a big opportunity for Elliott to prove that he belongs in his manager’s main team selections moving forward, having made zero starts in the Premier League this season under the Dutchman.

Instead, the ex-Feyenoord boss will feel even more fixed in his ways that Elliott isn’t worthy of regular minutes in his first XI, with an obvious handball early into the second half allowing Ryan Hardie to be Plymouth’s hero from the spot.

Away from this horror moment at Home Park in isolation, the 21-year-old never looked comfortable all afternoon long, with possession given up a costly 20 times by the out-of-sorts number 19, as the well-drilled hosts were constantly awarded ways into the game to pull off a shock win.

Whilst Elliott’s handball will steal the majority of the headlines about where Liverpool went wrong, there were far worse performers from a Reds perspective, with a limp attacker for the away side really struggling to get going against the Championship’s basement outfit.

Chiesa's performance in numbers

Federico Chiesa was in the exact same boat as his midfield teammate heading into this contest in Devon, with the Italian having to make do with the odd bench appearance here and there in league action.

For a talent that was once named in the Serie A team of the season, it was slightly embarrassing to see how little he could offer against a team that sat rock bottom of the second tier, regardless of how well organised and dogged the hosts were.

He was way off his scintillating best in Italy playing at Home Park that’s for sure, with the numbers above making for some grim reading as Chiesa failed to hit a single on-target effort at Conor Hazard’s busy net.

Described as “atrocious” by one Reds content creator, the underperforming 27-year-old also only managed to complete one successful dribble from ten attempted, throw away possession a colossal 29 times and further added insult to injury by winning just 23% of his duels on the day.

Therefore, it wasn’t a great shock to see Chiesa receive some pelters after the famous FA Cup clash was over, with Daily Express journalist Amos Murphy handing out a 4/10 rating to the ex-Juventus man, stating that Slot ‘would’ve wanted more’ from a player who has shown his class on the big occasion previously in his career.

In the here and now, he floundered unfortunately, with the Reds number 14 now firmly chucked back into the reserve picture after such a drab performance.

Whilst Plymouth will still be celebrating this mammoth victory for many days to come, Slot will hope he can put this one down as a bad day at the office for his side before then returning to winning ways, with the Dutchman now well aware that his full squad can’t cut it when thrust into the spotlight.

VIDEO: Franck Ribery over Cristiano Ronaldo & 'no chance' for Thierry Henry against Robert Lewandowski! Thomas Muller makes his picks in hugely one-sided Bundesliga vs Premier League battle

In an interview with GOAL, the Bayern Munich legend did not hide any biases when it came to selecting the best team in a battle of Bundesliga and Premier League stars. Asked to pick between a great from each league per position, Muller opted for the Bundesliga player on all-but-one occasion. His Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany was the sole Premier League hero who made the team – beating Lucio to take one of the spots at centre-back.

    WHAT MULLER SAID

Showing loyalty to much of his old team-mates Muller selected Manuel Neuer over Petr Cech, Phillip Lahm over Kyle Walker, Kompany over Lucio, Mats Hummels over Rio Ferdinand and "an easy pick" of David Alaba over Ashley Cole to make up the defence.

In midfield, Michael Ballack was chosen in favour of Yaya Toure. Muller admitted that Bastian Schweinsteiger and Steven Gerrard was, in football terms, "a tough call, it's almost a draw. But, emotionally, it is Schweinsteiger." He added Thiago Alcantara over David Silva in his final midfield selection.

Across the front line, Muller shouted "Frerot!", meaning 'little brother' in French, to announce Franck Ribery's his selection over Cristiano Ronaldo. Arjen Robben was chosen over Gareth Bale on the right-wing and, finally, for the striker position Muller stated: "I admire Thierry Henry a lot. He was very elegant and also very, very good, but against Lewa [Robert Lewandowski], no chance."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Who can blame Muller for staying loyal to his team-mates? The German has played at Bayern for 25 years, joining the club as a 10-year-old before finally announcing his departure at the end of this season. The forward won 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions Leagues, amongst a host of other major honours, at Bayern, as well as the World Cup with Germany, and was never going to pick a Premier League star over a friend.

Sheffield United plot double deal to sign "brilliant" ace and 6-goal winger

Already planning for life in the Premier League, Sheffield United are now reportedly plotting a double summer swoop to sign two young Liverpool players who have impressed on loan in the Championship.

Sheffield United transfer news

As things stand, the Blades are on course for yet another promotion to the Premier League under Chris Wilder and remain in control of their own fate after easing past Middlesbrough to win 3-1 last time out.

With just three points between themselves and a strong Burnley side in third, Sheffield United won’t be getting ahead of themselves anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be at least planning ahead.

The last time that the Blades were in the top-flight, of course, they crashed and burned to suffer instant relegation back down to the Championship. Since then, the Premier League hasn’t got any easier and if Wilder’s side are to earn promotion again, they must be better prepared.

With that said, those at Bramall Lane are already reportedly setting their sights on summer reinforcements they could bring with them to England’s top tier.

Sheffield United now plotting move to sign "immense" Championship rival

He’s in impressive form…

Feb 13, 2025

According to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Sheffield United now want to sign both Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck from Liverpool this summer if they earn promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Liverpool duo have both enjoyed impressive seasons in the Championship, with Wales international Koumas on loan at Stoke City and Beck on loan at Blackburn Rovers. Yet, Anfield may not await. Instead, if Sheffield United come swooping in, they could be reunited at Bramall Lane sooner rather than later.

Two rising stars, the Blades would be wise to make their moves as soon as possible before their respective price tags increase or potential loan interest arrives from elsewhere.

Koumas and Beck both on the rise

Beck, 22 years old, and Koumas, just 19 years old, have both stood out at times on loan. The former has consistently played a part in a Blackburn Rovers side aiming for a play-off place by the end of the campaign – starting 20 of 32 games at left-back. Meanwhile, the younger Koumas has stolen the headlines more than once – scoring six goals in all competitions from the left-hand side.

Both have enjoyed their fair share of praise too, with former Blackburn boss John Eustace telling reporters when asked about Beck earlier this season: “Owen was exceptional, that is why he’s here.

Owen Beck in a press conference on international duty.

“He’s a very young, talented player. He’s got other good young players around but also experience around him too. They want to help him and they’re always talking to him. He’s had a brilliant game against a couple of really tricky wingers today for Swansea. He dealt with them very well.”

The only factor that Sheffield United may need to get past is the price tag of both players. Whether Liverpool will be willing to sell their two academy products at a feasible price remains to be seen this summer, which could force the Blades to settle for loan deals.

"Fantastic" 26 y/o Celtic ace emerges as "surprise" target for huge club

A “fantastic” Celtic player is seen as a transfer target for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, according to a fresh transfer update that has emerged regarding their summer business.

Celtic pull 16 points clear at the top

It proved to be another good weekend for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Scottish Premiership title race, following an emphatic 5-2 victory away to St Mirren on Saturday.

Not only that, but Rangers also lost 2-1 at home to Motherwell, meaning Celtic have now opened up a 16-point lead at the top of the table. While the manager and his players won’t allow themselves to get carried away, they must also feel like they have one hand on yet another league troophy.

Celtic managerBrendanRodgerscelebrates after winning the League Cup

In terms of Hoops transfer news, Rodgers has confirmed that he will discuss a potential permanent move for loanee Jeffrey Schlupp, saying: “I’ll have a chat with Jeffrey towards the latter part of the season. It was the case of him coming in and settling and getting to understand how he plays. I think we can all see he has that Premier League physicality and quality.”

Meanwhile, Borja Sainz is a player who has been linked with a move to Celtic at the end of the season, having scored 15 goals in 30 appearances for Norwich City in the Championship this season. The Spaniard would provide additional firepower for the Scottish champions, and at 24, there is also still so much more to come from him.

Worrying Celtic exit rumour emerges

Now, according to InterLive.it [via Sport Witness], Inter Milan are interested in signing Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston this summer. The 26-year-old is seen as a “surprise name” on the Serie A champions’ list of transfer targets in that position, and there is belief that they could snap him up for around £8m.

Celtic defender Alistair Johnston.

Losing Johnston would be a big blow for Celtic, considering what a model of consistency he has been at right-back ever since arriving from CF Montreal in 2023. The Canada international has bagged four goals and seven assists in the Scottish Premiership this season, also averaging 2.4 clearances and 1.7 tackles per game across 25 appearances in the competition, showing what an effective all-round footballer he is.

Rodgers is clearly a big admirer of his full-back, too, saying of him back in November of last year: “He’s clearly a player we would want to tie down. He’s a fantastic guy to work with on and off the pitch, so hopefully in the future that can be the case.”

The hope is that Johnston feels settled at Parkhead, not wanting to move on any time soon, but his head could be turned by interest from a club of Inter’s stature.

Should the Canadian want to leave, Celtic must make sure that they receive a healthy amount for his signature, however – £8m at a bare minimum – especially as his current deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2029.

Mbeumo has developed into one of the Premier League's most consistent forwards in recent years and became the Bees' talisman after the departure of Ivan Toney, scoring 20 goals and contributing another seven assists in 38 Premier League appearances last season. Brentford are thought to want around £60m for the 25-year-old and United may be able to offer him the wages he wants if they can get rid of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, two of their biggest earners, this summer.

WHAT NEXT FOR MBEUMO AND MAN UTD?

United are expected to open formal talks with Brentford over a deal for Mbeumo soon, with no official contact made just yet. If that deal goes through, the speedster would add proven Premier League quality to Ruben Amorim's squad that could only finish 15th in the table.

Man City have already sold their own Adam Wharton for just £7m

With FA Cup success still in their hands, alongside a top-five Premier League finish, the season certainly isn’t over as far as Manchester City are concerned.

That said, this unusually quieter period of the campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side can be used to prepare the squad ahead of going again next term, with the club having already begun their squad overhaul after acquiring four new faces in the winter window.

The last of those brought in by Txiki Begiristain and co was Porto playmaker, Nico Gonzalez, with the former Barcelona academy starlet already looking like a “mini Rodri”, in the words of Guardiola.

With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva all into their 30s – and with the aforementioned Rodri currently sidelined – the midfield ranks are certainly in need of a fresh lick of paint, even after Gonzalez’s arrival.

As such, it would appear that the £50m capture of the 23-year-old will be followed by further midfield recruits over the summer, with Crystal Palace sensation, Adam Wharton, seemingly the standout target.

Latest on Man City's pursuit of Adam Wharton

After an injury-hit start to 2024/25, the former Blackburn Rovers ace – who signed for Palace on a £22m deal last January – has begun to hit his stride in recent months, playing a central role in a stunning run of form for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Previously a peripheral part of England’s surge to the Euro 2024 final, having failed to make a single appearance in Germany, the 21-year-old has shown his class again of late, only recently teeing up Eddie Nketiah with a delicious threaded pass in the win over Ipswich Town.

Ranking in the top 2% of Premier League midfielders for progressive passes per 90, as per FBref, the forward-thinking youngster looks readymade for a Guardiola side, hence why the club are believed to be tracking his progress closely.

Crystal Palace's AdamWhartonin action with Ipswich Town's Julio Enciso

Indeed, reports this week in Spain claimed that City have actually already secured the signing of the Englishman ahead of this summer, beating LaLiga giants Real Madrid to his signature.

The suggestion is that a raft of clubs, including Liverpool, have been keen on the reported £66m star, although if those Spanish claims are to be believed, he looks to be on his way to the Etihad.

While that would represent a marquee, statement signing for the Citizens, there may be a frustration that Begiristain has already sold the perfect replica of Wharton on the cheap.

Man City already sold their own Adam Wharton

With so many young exciting talents passing through the Man City academy, it is almost hard to keep track of every rising star who has been moved on before being handed a chance at first-team level.

Where Are They Now

Your star player or biggest flop has left the club but what are they doing in the present day? This article is part of Football FanCast’s Where Are They Now series.

The obvious examples include the likes of Morgan Rogers, James Trafford and Liam Delap – among others – although a perhaps lesser-known case is Serbian sensation, Ivan Ilic.

The 6 foot 1 midfielder was signed from Red Star Belgrade, along with older brother Luka, back in 2017, with the teenage pair joining for a reported fee of just £5m, before returning on loan to their former club for the next two seasons.

Later in 2017, Ivan was included by The Guardian as City’s representative in the Premier League’s top 20 young talents, albeit while failing to actually make a first-team appearance for the club, amid further loans at FK Zunum and NAC Breda.

The teen prodigy was then subsequently sold to Serie A side Hellas Verona for a fee of just £7m in 2021, having since gone on to join another Italian outfit, Torino, in 2023.

Those moves have proven particularly profitable for the 23-year-old, with analyst Ben Mattinson marking him out as the “complete midfielder” last summer, despite being “seriously underrated”.

A silky left-footer, much like Wharton, Ilic has actually been compared to the City summer target, with Mattinson insisting that he is “similar in many ways” to the Palace gem and former Arsenal star, Granit Xhaka, albeit with Ilic the “most mobile and tallest” of the trio.

Ivan Ilic

A potentially subtle difference between the pair, despite the Torino star also being an “exceptional long passer”, in the words of Mattinson, is that Ilic is far more adept at carrying the ball forward, thus ranking in the top 5% of Serie A midfielders for progressive carries per 90.

Although injuries have hampered his involvement this season, the 21-cap Serbia international has also shown himself to be a threat in an attacking sense, with 13 goals and assists in 61 games for his current side. Wharton, for instance, has just four assists and no goals in 33 games for the Eagles.

Of course, thriving in the Premier League is a different task to shining in Serie A, but it does beg the question as to whether City made a rare mistake by not handing Ilic the opportunity at the Etihad.

Kinnear must instantly axe Everton star who earns more than Beto & Ndiaye

There could be a big summer on the horizon for Everton football club as David Moyes prepares for his first full transfer window in charge of the Toffees for the second time.

It is also the club’s first summer transfer window ahead of their move to the new stadium for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, in which they will want a successful debut at their expensive home.

This means that there could be some ruthless decisions that are made on players to be sold, and kept, as well as new signings coming in to bolster the squad.

Angus Kinnear is set to arrive from Leeds United to assume the role of CEO at Everton at the start of June, and he may instantly look at the wage bill to inform his decisions in the transfer market.

What Everton's wage bill will look like for Kinnear

The Leeds chief may look at how the club have been using the funds available to them this season and look to ruthlessly ditch the players who have not been value for money.

Iliman Ndiaye has been the poster boy for value for money this season with six goals in 22 Premier League starts, despite being on £45k-per-week at Goodison Park.

As you can see in the table above, Ndiaye is not even in the top ten earners at the club this season, whilst in-form centre-forward Beto only just makes the list.

The Portuguese striker has scored five goals in the Premier League since Moyes took the job in January, establishing himself as the go-to number nine for the Scotsman.

With this in mind, Kinnear could hit the ground running at Everton this summer by instantly ditching English striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Why Everton should sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin

As shown in the table, the former England international is one of the most highly-paid players at the club on £100k-per-week, but he has not done enough on the pitch to justify that expense.

Everton's DominicCalvert-Lewincelebrates scoring their first goal

Calvert-Lewin has been unreliable from a fitness perspective during his time at Everton, missing 78 competitive matches through injury since the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

This means that managers have not been able to rely upon him during a season as he has had to deal with multiple injury absences that have prevented him from being consistent on the pitch.

As you can see in the table above, Calvert-Lewin has also been unreliable on the pitch with his lack of quality in front of goal, underperforming his xG by almost 15 goals since the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

This, essentially, means that the former Sheffield United man has consistently failed to make the most of the high-quality opportunities that his teammates have created for him in recent years, costing his team points in the process.

Earlier this season, talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara described his finishing as “embarrassing” and claimed it is “why he’s not gone to a top side”, which is hard to argue with when you look at his performance against xG.

Beto and Ndiaye, despite earning less than Calvert-Lewin combined, have both outscored the £100k-per-week forward, who has managed three goals in the top-flight, this season.

The 28-year-old striker’s contract with Everton is due to expire this summer and Kinnear must ruthlessly ditch him by allowing it to run out without offering him an extension, due to his unreliability both on and off the pitch for the wages that he is on.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Under Tudor’s leadership, Juventus secured Champions League qualification for the 2025-26 season, prompting the club to offer a two-year extension. The move signals a commitment to stability and long-term planning as the Bianconeri aim to build a winning cycle, given they will also be participating in the Club World Cup under the head coach. Tudor took over the reins in an interim role after Juve sacked Thiago Motta in March. The Italian heavyweights played nine games under their new manager, winning five, drawing three, and losing just once.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

In an interview in May, Tudor threatened to resign ahead of the Club World Cup in the scenario Juve had already made their mind up on appointing a new coach ahead of the upcoming season.

"I can’t say anything; we’ll talk and decide soon. We were all focused on the end of the season, all the games. I didn’t even want to talk about this. Now we have the Club World Cup, but all this will be solved before that. It would not be a good idea to go there without a decision, or to make a decision [to change] but still go there with the same coach. It would not be serious for the club or the coach," he said.

The Old Lady were reportedly considering reuniting with Napoli boss Antonio Conte. However, those rumours have now been put to bed, with the former Juve coach staying put in Naples for at least one more season.
