Having joined from Scottish side Hibernian in the summer of 2018, John McGinn has become a firm fans’ favourite at Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old won both the Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards last term, and scored the decider in the play-off final to secure promotion to the Premier League.

McGinn continued his remarkable rise by scoring Villa’s first goal in their return to the top-flight against Tottenham, and now he can add his opening goal for Scotland to his collection of achievements.

The midfielder poked home from close range to give his side the lead, before Russia turned the game on its head and closed out a 2-1 victory.

After seeing one of their key midfielders score, Villa fans flooded to Twitter to hail the former Hibernian ace.

Many supporters of the Midlands side lavished praise on the 24-year-old, whilst one fan in particular jokingly suggested £50m wouldn’t even be enough to buy just his right foot.

يتصدر الترجي التونسي ترتيب المجموعة الرابعة برصيد 4 نقاط، فيما يحتل مولودية الجزائر المركز الثاني برصيد نقطتين، بالتساوي مع الزمالك الذي حل في المرتبة الثالثة، فيما يتواجد تونجيث السنغالي في المركز الرابع برصيد نقطة واحدة.

Most of the time, a new signing is made to be of immediate benefit to the first-team, but it looks like the east Londoners had the future in mind when they completed one summer signing.

18-year-old centre-back Goncalo Cardoso was signed from Portuguese outfit Boavista in a deal worth a reported £2.75m, and he looks to be a real prospect.

The teenager’s first seven starts for Boavista saw him help the team record five clean sheets in the Primeira Liga, with only Portuguese giants Sporting and Porto finding a way past the talented youngster’s outfit.

Cardoso played in every minute of Portugal’s journey to the final of the European Under-19 Championship this summer, proving his pedigree in marshalling some of Europe’s best young forwards throughout the tournament. Portugal kept three clean sheets in five games and only Spain were able to breach their defensive unit.

It’s also clear just how highly-rated the teenage centre-back is by the fact that Italian giants Inter Milan also held an interest in signing him before the Hammers managed to snap him up.

Manuel Pellegrini has recently said that Cardoso is not ready for first-team football yet, and he has been spending his time in east London so far playing with the Under-23 side.

However, on the basis of his development thus far, there is definitely enough evidence to suggest that the young Portuguese defender could potentially challenge for a first-team place in the near future.

The Portugal Under-19 star who clearly has bundles of talent just has to remain patient and bide his time for a chance.

أعلن نادي بايرن ميونخ في بيان رسمي قبل قليل، توقيع الإنجليزي الشاب، جمال موسيالا، عقدًا احترافيًا مع بطل ألمانيا.

وقال بايرن في بيانه: “موسيالا وقع عقدًا احترافيًا مع بايرن ميونخ، طويل الأمد حتى 30 يونيو 2026”.

موسيالا سبق وانضم إلى أكاديمية تشيلسي عام 2011، واستمر معهم لمدة 8 سنوات، وفي يوليو2019، عاد إلى ألمانيا وضمه بايرن ميونخ، ليسجل ظهوره مع الفريق الأول في يونيو 2020.

وأصبح موسيالا أصغر لاعب يشارك مع بايرن ميونخ في البوندسليجا بعمر 17 عامًا و115 يومًا، حين شارك أمام فرايبورج.

موسيالا هذا الموسم مع النادي البافاري، شارك في 28 مُباراة بمُختلف المُسابقات، وسجّل أربعة أهداف.

ظهر المدرب الفرنسي زين الدين زيدان، المدير الفني لنادي ريال مدريد، في مؤتمر صحفي، للحديث عن مباراة إلتشي في الدوري الإسباني.

ريال مدريد يستقبل إلتشي غدًا السبت، على ملعب “ألفريدو دي ستيفانو”، ضمن لقاءات الجولة السابعة والعشرين من الدوري الإسباني.

وقال زيدان: “في هذه الليجا لا توجد مُباريات محسومة، وترتيب الأندية لا يعني شيئًا، إلتشي فريق جيد، لعب العديد من المباريات الجيدة مع المدرب الجديد، علينا أن نلعب مباراة رائعة من أجل حصد النقاط الثلاث”.

وأضاف: “هُنالك 12 مباراة متبقية على نهاية الدوري، نحن متخلفون في النقاط قليلًا، ولكن نؤمن بالفرصة حتى النهاية لذلك نعمل، طالما هنالك فرصة لنكون أبطالًا، نؤمن بتلك الفرصة، نؤمن بحظوظنا وسنعمل من أجل ذلك”.

وواصل: “نحن نعلم ما يتعين علينا القيام به، فكرتنا هي الفوز دائمًا، إذا أردنا مواصلة القتال في الدوري فلا يمكن خسارة أي نقطة”.

وبسؤاله “هل هازارد وراموس مُتاحان لمباراة الغد؟”، أجاب: “نعم بالطبع، نحن سعداء للغاية، فكرتنا أنّ يكون لديهم بعض الدقائق”.

وأكمل: “أرى هازارد جيدًا من الناحية البدنية، ومشاعره رائعة، تغلب على الإصابة وشعور عدم الراحة الذي كان يعاني منه، سيكون معنا وأتمنى أنّ يشارك”.

وأتبع: “هازارد لم يكن يشعر بالراحة، لم يتعرض لكمية الإصابات قبل قدومه، متى ما كان جاهزًا سيقدم أداءً مثيرًا للإعجاب، حديثي للجماهير هو عندما لا يكون اللاعب جاهزًا بشكلٍ كامل يكون الأمر معقّدًا، لكنه سيقدم أداءً مذهلًا هنا”.

وردًا على “هل أنت قلق من افتقار بنزيما للأهداف؟”، أجاب: “لا، لست قلقًا، ما نعمل عليه هو أن نحاول التحسّن كل أسبوع، سنحاول فعل ذلك، وكل اللاعبين لديهم الرغبة في التطور، سنحاول تحسّين الأمور، وكل اللاعبين يريدون التحسّن”.

وتطرق للحديث عن فينيسيوس جونيور، وقال: “أرى تطوره بشكل جيد، لا يزال شابًا، يجب عليه أنّ يتحسّن أكثر، يتدرب بشكل جيد، وفي ريال مدريد نحن نطلب دائمًا المزيد من اللاعبين”.

وأتم تصريحاته بالحديث عن رأيه في أداء ماركو أسينسيو قائلًا: “كل شخص لديه رأي، شيئًا فشيء سيكون بخير، نعلم إمكانياته وما يمكن أن يقدمه، لذلك نطلب منه المزيد، هو يعمل بشكلٍ جيد ونحن سعداء بوجوده”.

Dedryck Boyata left Celtic on a free transfer in the summer with the Belgian international moving to Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and has put the record straight on the rumours that he went on strike to force a move in an interview with SportsBild via Sport Witness.

What has he said?

Boyata was a key player in Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football for four years and an integral part of the unprecedented “Treble Treble”. The Belgian won everything in his time in Scotland and was still a regular for the national side including appearances in the 2018 World Cup.

He was in the Scottish Premiership “Team of the Year” in his final season which shows his commitment to the Parkhead club despite his contract running out. So what did Boyata have to say on the matter when asked about downing tools:

“It’s not true, I was accused of strikes last summer so I could move. I also played through the season, was in the Scottish team of the year and played my part in the title.

“The truth is, I’ve won everything at Celtic in four years. But it was time to start something new. The Bundesliga is a good challenge for me.”

Was Boyata in the wrong?

As Boyata stated, he had given four good years service to Celtic and had even stayed a year longer after being promised a move in the summer of 2018 if the club could find a suitable replacement. Boyata’s agent had spoken about Celtic not being entirely honest about the situation claiming that they weren’t interested in engaging with interested parties.

Boyata played 32 times for Celtic last season and only missed games through injury. So despite not being allowed to leave the club he continued to play and perform to a high standard, far from going on strike.

He was entitled to speak to other clubs once he was in the last six months of his contract and eventually he agreed a deal with Hertha Berlin. Celtic decided that losing him for free was an acceptable loss after he’d played his part in securing another treble. Just because they were unable to find a suitable replacement wasn’t Boyata’s fault, but it is also understandable on Celtic’s part that they didn’t want to lose a key player without a replacement.

Boyata wasn’t helped by his agent in the whole matter but he remained professional and was entitled to move on given the level of service Celtic received from him. At the peak of his career he wanted to better himself and the Bundesliga is of significantly greater quality than the Scottish Premiership. He should’ve been thank for his time at the club and left with their best wishes. Football, as we all know, doesn’t always quite work out like that though.

وقال هشام ابراهيم في تصريحات تلفزيونية لفضائية “أون تايم سبورتس”: “كارتيرون ليس غريبًا على نادي الزمالك، كنا ندرس السير الذاتية لأكثر من مدرب، واللجنة فضلت كارتيرون لسابق معرفته باللاعبين وأعتقد كان هناك تواصل بين البعض منهم وبينه”.

وأضاف: “كارتيرون بدأ العمل منذ الدقيقة الأولى، نظرًا للمباريات الهامة التي نستعد لخوضها، فهو كان الأصلح من جميع النواحي الفنية والمالية”.

وكشف: “لا يوجد ممول لصفقة كارتيرون، تكاليف الصفقة دفعت من أموال الزمالك، ولا يوجد أعباء مالية في تلك الصفقة، بل بالعكس، بحساب ما كان يدفع للجهاز الفني السابق وما سيدفع للحالي سيظهر ما توفير للأبيض”.

وواصل: “بعيدًا عن الماديات، جهاز كارتيرون لن يتواجد فيه مشرف أو مديرًا للكرة هذا عبء مالي تم إزالته وبالإضافة إلى تخفيض عدد أفراد الجهاز، الجهاز الفني لكارتيرون تكلفته أقل ماليًا من الجهاز السابق بقيادة باتشيكو”.

واستطرد: “اللجنة منحت كارتيرون الحرية الكاملة في اختيار الجهاز المعاون له، وهو فضل عدم وجود مشرف على الكرة أو مديرًا للكرة وهذا حق أصيل له، واللجنة توجه الشكر لأشرف قاسم وعبد الحليم علي، هما خدما النادي بإخلاص”.

واستكمل: “لن أرد على تصريحات باتشيكو بشأن عدم توفير الصفقات التي طلبها إلا بشيء واحد، اللجنة التي تدير الزمالك لا تتعاقد مع لاعب أو تقوم بإعارة لاعب إلا بموافقة المدير الفني، المدرب البرتغالي طلب لاعبًا، وبالفعل تعاقدنا معه بالإضافة إلى لاعب آخر وافق عليه بعد عرضه عليه، وكل لاعب أعير كان بموافقته”.

وتابع: “أطمئن الجماهير والأعضاء لو هناك أزمة مالية في الزمالك نحن متواجدون من أجل حلها، واليوم أصدرنا قرارات خاصة بمشروعات ستدر دخل على النادي بما يقدر بـ20 مليون جنيه خلال الـ3 أيام المقبلين، ونحن في الطريق لحلول فورية للأزمة المالية وحلول طويلة المدى”.

واختتم: “المفاوضات مع فرجاني ساسي في طريقها للانتهاء، قلت من قبل إن الأمور كلها تتلخص في الماديات، وتوجد رغبة متبادلة لاستمراره في الزمالك”.

Borna Barisic enjoyed an excellent performance for Rangers as they beat Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday.

With Jon Flanagan injured, Barisic was selected to play from the start against the Dutch club at Ibrox.

The Croatia international has enjoyed a very good start to the season, maintaining selection for the national side and scoring two sublime free-kicks – though one was wrongly ruled not to have crossed the line despite being clearly over it – and two assists.

Per WhoScored, Barisic won three tackles against Feyenoord, made three interceptions, completed two clearances and one dribble and also won an aerial duel in what was, essentially, a complete display.

After the match, Rangers fans took to social media in unison to applaud the performance of Barisic as the club kept a vital clean sheet in their European encounter.

Ahead of this new season, and continuing into its opening weeks, one of the most persistent lines of enquiry concerning the Premier League was whether Wolves might struggle to replicate their fantastic campaign of 2018/19. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men finished seventh to the great surprise of many and they did so by playing an expansive yet sturdy brand of football that impressed. Was that now destined to be a one-off?

The reason for these doubts was no reflection on their summer transfer business or indeed the overall progress being made at Molineux but rather it solely concentrated on Wolves’ participation in the Europa League, the reward for their high achievement that is often seen as a curate’s egg for every club.

On the one hand European football is a thrilling and positive proposition. On the other, its demands deplete squads of their reserves and necessitate a juggling of personnel that when added to any number of rescheduled fixtures can result in a serious disruption to a side’s league aspirations.

We are six games deep into the new season and Wolves have yet to win a game. They have drawn four and lost two and their abject start has left them rooted in the relegation zone. It seems then, at first glance, that the hand-wringing predictions that were so commonplace before the opening day are already coming true with the club’s involvement in continental football proving to be a poisoned chalice.

Except that doesn’t add up. Not at all. In fact common sense decrees that right now – partly due to their European adventures – Wolves should be flying.

They began their competitive season a full 17 days ahead of their rivals with the taking on of Irish team Crusaders in the tournament’s second qualifying round and by the time Wolves hosted Leicester for the league’s curtain-raiser they had three Europa commitments dealt with. That gave them a significant advantage over the Foxes and others who began their league seasons coming off the back of meaningless friendlies. Furthermore, Wolves won these three games, giving them impetus and confidence to transfer to their domestic duties.

It should be at the tail-end of long, gruelling seasons where Europa participants struggle, when fatigue becomes an issue and the games build up. At the beginning should actually be a plus.

So what can their league form – that contrasts so starkly to that of last year – be attributed to if not the easy scapegoat of European competition?

Could it be something as straightforward as the much-dreaded ‘second season syndrome’ striking, a phenomenon that has a long-standing track record of undermining players or clubs that dare to – supposedly – over-achieve? In 2001 Ipswich Town finished 5th in the top flight after attaining promotion the previous year.  Twelve months later they were relegated. In 2007 Reading reached the promised land of the Premier League and capitalising on momentum finished an extremely impressive 8th. A season later they too went down. Two years later Birmingham City finished a very credible 9th after coming up. Guess what happened the following season?

It happens and it happens more than is acknowledged: a club is buoyed from promotion and fears nobody and enjoys a successful introduction to the big time. Then a recalibration takes place. Harsh realities set in, the element of surprise over the rest of the league is lost. Teams just seem to work you out.

That is not to say that relegation awaits Wolves, not with the vast quality they have at their disposal. But Europe should not be seen as a distraction or an excuse and with the infliction of ‘second season syndrome’ presently looking the likeliest culprit for their poor start, Santo – so routinely praised for his tactical nous – now must deploy another string of his managerial bow.

It is becoming a psychological issue at Molineux and from that comes a need to get back to basics and remember who they are and what they are capable of. They are not a one-season wonder. They’re better than that.

وتحدث جونسون عن وجوده في الأهلي مع موسيماني في حوار مع صحيفة “The Citizen” الجنوب إفريقية، وقال: “أتعلم الكثير بتواجدي بجانب بيتسو والفوز بالثلاثية كان له إحساس رائع”.

وتابع: “موسيماني يعد أحد أكثر المدربين خبرة في قارة إفريقيا، نحن نسافر كثيرًا لخوض بطولات خارجية مثل دوري أبطال إفريقيا”.

وأضاف: “تدريب هؤلاء اللاعبين المتواجدين في الأهلي تجربة يريد كل مدرب أن يخوضها ويستمتع بها، لذلك فأنا ممتن للغاية لإتاحة هذه الفرصة لي”.

وبسؤاله عما إذا كان متفاجئًا أن موسيماني لم يستعين بأحد مساعدين في صن داونز بمهمته مع الأهلي، أجاب: “المفاجأة كلمة صغيرة لوصف شعوري ولكنني أشعر بالفخر لاختياري لتلك المهمة”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “موسيماني يعرفني جيدًا، كذلك أنا على الرغم من أننا لم نعمل سويًا من قبل وكنا في فرق مختلفة، لكن في النهاية، كنا نقدم مباريات قوية عند مواجهاتنا المباشرة وربما يكون ذلك هو السبب وراء اختياره لي”.

واستمر: “الكثير يقدر ويحترم بيتسو وهذا يعود لأنه شخص يمتلك عقلية الفوز، وتأكدت من ذلك عندما أصبحنا في نفس النادي ونحاول مساعدة بعضنا البعض من أجل إدارة الفريق بأفضل طريقة ممكنة”.

وأتم: “موسيماني دائمًا ما يرجع الفضل للفريق إذا كانت النتائج التي يحققها اللاعبين إيجابية ولا يتحدث عن نفسه وهذه واحدة من الصفات الجيدة التي يتمتع بها”.
