And now it’s finally official: Daniel James made up his mind and is finally donning the Manchester red. A signing that was long on the cards has finally gone through and this electric youngster has arrived at Old Trafford and is ready to make a big impact in the foreseeable future.

This 21-year-old winger could very well be the breath of fresh air United needed and because of that, here are two main reasons he will be a huge hit at Old Trafford…

The numbers don’t lie

It’s quite easy to get carried away with emerging new talents as we are so often seduced by their flashy styles and quick development. But James’ contribution to Swansea City cannot really be disputed, especially after glancing at the pure numbers behind it. Four goals and a total of nine assists in his last Championship campaign for the Swans really do speak for themselves. Even when he’s compared to current Manchester United players, the 21-year-old is not far behind – albeit playing in a division of lesser quality.

And, of course, James has his age as one of his biggest advantages over most of his rivals at the club.

Dissecting the figures even further, we find out that he ranked third in the Championship for fast breaks per 90 minutes last season, and fifth among the players with the most shots in the league. Additionally, only four players recorded more touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes than James in his latest campaign. If that doesn’t excite you, barely anything will.

The sky is the limit

At 21 years of age, James has the whole world ahead of him. His journey in English football has barely begun! With proper management, which will surely play a major role in his development, he could become an important player for the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems pretty convinced Manchester United is the right place for James to continue his career and he is excited to have him on his team. Honestly, we couldn’t agree more, and it’s now down to Ole to lead the youngster properly.

Ultimately, in a market where talented young players can be difficult to sign for a modest fee, Manchester United have done fairly well to acquire one for £15m.

وأضاف: “لقد فقدنا بعض كبار اللاعبين مثل فان دايك وجوميز، كما أصيب جوتا كذلك، كان الوضع سيكون أفضل لو كان الجميع متاحين، لكننا لا نشكو لأن لدينا لاعبين شباب قدموا أداءً جيدًا للغاية ويقدمون أفضل ما لديهم”.

وواصل: “لقد تعرضنا لإصابات، ولكن يجب التعامل مع الوضع ونمضي قدمًا، هذه هي الطريقة التي تجعلنا أبطالًا وليس الشكوى”.

وعندما سُئل عن إمكانية الدفاع عن لقب البريميرليج هذا الموسم، أجاب: “أعتقد أن هذا موسم صعب على الجميع بسبب كورونا والوضع في العالم، لكننا نكافح بجد للدفاع عن اللقب، نحن نبذل قصارى جهدنا في التدريب ونناضل من أجل الفوز”.

وأكد: “الجميع متعطشون دائمًا للمزيد، نحن نبذل قصارى جهدنا لتقديم 100% دائمًا، هو وضع صعب بالنسبة للجميع ولكنا ما زلنا نكافح للتأقلم”.

وتخضع إنجلترا حاليًا للإغلاق الثالث منذ تفشي فيروس كورونا في مارس من العام الماضي، وعلى الرغم من عودة الجماهير بشكل جزئي قبل فترة الكريسماس ولكن كل شيء مغلق الآن مرة أخرى بسبب الموجة الجديدة للفيروس.

وعن ذلك، قال صلاح: “الأمر صعب، الأنفيلد هو الأنفيلد، كل الناس والمشجعين الذين يأتون إلى هنا يصنعون فرقًا كبيرًا لنا، ولكن أهم شيء هو صحتهم، لا يمكننا الشكوى من هذا الأمر، بعض الناس يعانون أكثر مما نعاني، لذلك نحن في وضع جيد، نأمل أن نساهم من خلال كرة القدم أن نجعل حياة الناس أسهل قليلًا”.

واختتم: “يمكننا أن نأتي للتدريبات ونجعل الأشخاص الذين يشاهدون المباريات سعداء، آمل أن نساعدهم بطريقة ما حتى يتمكنوا من الاستمرار في البقاء في حالة صحة وأمان، نحن نختبر أنفسنا كل يومين ونشعر بالأمان التام، نفتقد الجماهير سواء داخل الملعب أو خارجه، لكن لا يمكنني الشكوى لأنني أعرف الوضع وأقرأ الأخبار، نأمل أن يتحسن الوضع قريبًا حتى يتمكن الناس من العودة إلى الملعب”.

تحدث كويمين كيليهر حارس مرمى فريق ليفربول عقب انتهاء مباراة الأمس أمام فريق ولفرهامبتون في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وفاز ليفربول بأربعة أهداف دون رد في الجولة الحادية عشر من البطولة، في ملعب الأنفيلد.

وشارك كيليهر في مباراة الأمس وهي الأولى له في البريميرليج، وذلك في ظل إصابة الحارس الأساسي أليسون بيكر.

وقرر المدرب يورجن كلوب مواصلة اعتماده على خدمات كيليهر بعد تألقه في مباراة الثلاثاء الماضي أمام أياكس في دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وقال كيليهر، في تصريحات نشرها الموقع الرسمي للنادي: “كان أدائنا من الدرجة الأولى، منذ الدقيقة الأولى كنا متحمسون حقًا ولعبنا بشكل جيد”.

وأضاف: “سجلنا أربعة أهداف وربما كان في إمكاننا تسجيل المزيد، لقد كان أداء الفريق رائعًا من جميع النواحي”.

وواصل: “تصدياتي أمام ولفرهامبتون؟ أنا هنا من أجل ذلك! أنا أحاول فقط أن أكون متواجدًا من أجل الفريق لمساعدتهم في تلك اللحظات ولحسن الحظ تمكنت مرة أخرى من التصدي لتلك الكرات والحصول على الشباك النظيفة”.

واستكمل: “الحفاظ على نظافة الشباك يُعد أهم شيء بالنسبة لنا، أنا والمدافعين، لقد قمنا بعملنا”.

وشهدت مباراة الأمس حضور 2000 مشجعًا في الأنفيلد، كجزء من خطة عودة الجماهير تدريجيًا إلى المدرجات والتي غابت عدة أشهر بسبب كورونا.

وعن ذلك، قال كيليهر: “بكل تأكيد الأمر رائع، لقد مر وقت طويل بدون الجماهير لدرجة أنه كان من الغريب رؤيتهم، لكن كان شعورًا رائعًا بعودتهم إلى الملعب”.

واختتم: “الدعم الذي يقدمونه مختلف، لقد رأيت اليوم كيف نؤدي في حضورهم، لذلك فإن عودتهم كانت إضافة حقيقية بالنسبة لنا”.

Good news: Arsenal are apparently refusing to sell midfielder Lucas Torreira following interest from AC Milan, as per Sky Sports in Italy posted on their English-speaking website.

Indeed, it probably comes as no surprise that Marco Giampaolo, the man who oversaw much of the little Uruguayan’s development as a player, is seemingly keen to re-sign him when he completes his potential move from Sampdoria to the San Siro as manager.

Torreira made 34 Premier League appearances of one of the fundamental elements of Unai Emery’s midfield last season, scoring twice, and warming himself to fans as a dogged, no-nonsense high-energy style of player. Indeed, his performance in a 4-2 win over Tottenham back in December was heralded by the Telegraph at the time and Martin Keown described it as the best midfield performance from an Arsenal player he’d seen since the days of Gilberto Silva and Patrick Vieira.

Rather worryingly though, the player recently admitted that life was better when he was in Italy, though he added that he will adapt to living in England as he continues his career here.

“I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy,” he recently told Ovacion.

“I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.”

While Torreira battles with his own issues, Arsenal fans will rejoice in the knowledge that the club won’t be facing the added pressure of securing another midfielder following the recent departure of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus. Standing strong here is undoubtedly a powerful statement.

At the very least, what we can extract from the recent news is that Arsenal, despite their reported measly £40-45m budget – which Robert Pires believes is far too little to win the Premier League title – the club still have enough influence to keep big players. A short-term positive, that’s for sure.

More time in the summer to develop the relationship between Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira can only be a good thing, as well.

West Ham United’s Robert Snodgrass has been attracting some attention recently.

The Scotland international is thought to have caught the eye of former club Leeds United this summer as reliable insider ExWHUemployee revealed on the West Ham Way podcast (Thursday 20 June) that the Whites were keen on a loan deal.

Ex also stated that any deal between the two clubs would be rather difficult as the Hammers are thought to be against the idea of letting ‘Snoddy’ leave on loan and would rather keep him at the London Stadium if they were unable to sell him.

However, perhaps that stance is wrong and maybe West Ham should not think twice about letting the winger leave the club on loan this summer.

Sure, the 31-year-old was a revelation last season for the Hammers under Manuel Pellegrini and he certainly looked a lot better than the dire individual he was under Slaven Bilic.

Just taking a look at his stats from last season on WhoScored would suggest just as much as well, as he proved to be a valuable member of the side. He provided five assists and two goals in 32 Premier League appearances for the Irons but his play on the pitch was what pleasantly surprised many of the fans in the stands.

Snodgrass, who is valued at £6.3million by Transfermarkt, managed an average of 1.8 key passes in those appearances whilst he completed 1 dribble per game. His passing is something worth highlighting though as he managed an average of 29.4 passes per game with a success rate of 82.1%, helping the attacking line tick and get going in a number of instances.

But, with that all being said, perhaps it might not be wrong to question what chance he has in the first-team next season.

Pablo Fornals was recently added to the side and has looked extremely impressive with each performance he puts in whilst on international duty with Spain’s Under-21 side in their European Championship tournament.

Also, Andriy Yarmolenko is set to come back and he will feel like a new signing at the club after injury robbed him of what was a very promising debut campaign. Although he only made nine appearances in the Premier League and was clearly adapting to the English game, the Ukrainian still managed to average 0.6 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game, scoring twice (WhoScored).

On the face of it, those figures are not very good, but there was physical evidence that his game was getting better and he would surely have had more opportunities as the season went on.

Indeed, the midfield is a hugely congested area of the pitch and one where West Ham have a ridiculous amount of talent available to them already. Michail Antonio excelled as the year went on, whilst it would not be a surprise to see Jack Wilshere in the side more often if he were able to remain fit – fingers crossed!

So, with that in mind, perhaps it would be worth loaning out Snodgrass this summer as he could have an extremely limited role in Pellegrini’s side in 2019/20.

Victor Wanyama is set for talks over his Tottenham Hotspur future as they close in on the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, per Football Insider.

What’s the word?

The report claims that Spurs are in advanced talks with the France international as they look to reinforce a squad that reached the Champions League final and finished fourth in the Premier League.

However, such a deal could throw the Kenya international’s future into doubt, with Ndombele likely to occupy a central midfield position under Mauricio Pochettino.

And Football Insider claim that Wanyama will seek talks with his manager over his plans for the future.

Indeed, the likes of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier all appear to be ahead of Wanyama in the pecking order, even before the looming acquisition of Ndombele.

A shame

Wanyama is clearly a lieutenant of Pochettino, as he has been signed twice by the Argentine.

Indeed, he brought the midfielder to Southampton before again signing him at Spurs but it simply hasn’t worked out for him.

But, after a sensational debut season in north London, he has struggled with injury and has seen his playing time significantly reduced.

He made a total of four starts in the Premier League and he simply can’t be trusted to play for any length of time.

Pochettino warned of a “painful” rebuild this summer and shipping out the defensive midfielder may be a key part of that after all his injury woes.

Reports in recent days and weeks have suggested that Paul Pogba could be on his way out of Manchester United this summer following a season of underwhelming performances and fractured relationships.

But when one door closes, another door opens. For United, watching the Frenchman leave the club for a second time around could see long-term target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic finally come in.

According to SportMediaSet, Milinkovic-Savic is just a “step away” from signing for the Red Devils and the Serbian could double his wages at the club. The 24-year-old has long been heralded as one of Serie A’s finest midfielders in his time at Lazio and it is easy to see why.

Standing at 6 ft 3 in, the central midfielder has all the traits you would expect from a player of his size. Strong, powerful and a difficult man to stop once in his stride, it is Milinkovic-Savic’s work with the ball that makes him such an exciting prospect for United to replace Pogba with.

In potentially losing Pogba, the Red Devils stand to miss a man who scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists last season. The France World Cup winner is an undeniable goal threat, but Milinkovic-Savic’s signing would go a long way in addressing some of the goals and assists they would lose.

The Serbia international struck seven times last season in a rather underwhelming campaign; but the year before – when he truly showed the world what he was capable of – he managed 14 goals and a further seven assists. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer persists with a three-man midfield for next season, the Lazio star can no doubt offset some of the attacking threat they would potentially miss out on with Pogba’s exit.

Indeed, the midfielder’s agent, Mateja Kezman, said back in March 2018: “When Sergej came to Italy, he was compared with Pogba. I do really respect Pogba, but I think now Sergej has different and better quality than Pogba. Over the last six months, he has made enormous progress at Lazio.

“He has remarkable attributes and you’ll not find another player in the world with that power, muscular structure and height combined with technique and tactical awareness. If he retains his health, he can become the most complete player on the planet.”

So whilst United fans might initially despair over Pogba’s possible departure, Milinkovic-Savic could certainly fit into those massive boots – both literally, and on the pitch too.

وقال رومانو في حواره مع شبكة “anfieldwatch” الإنجليزية: “ديفيد ألابا لديه اتفاق شفهي مع ريال مدريد، ولم يتم الحصول على توقيعه بعد على الرغم من ذلك، لأنه سيكون وكيلًا مجانيًا حتى يوقع العقد”.

وأضاف: “كل شيء مفتوح لكن ألابا لديه اتفاق شفهي مع ريال مدريد كما قلت، أعتقد انه سيكون من الصعب تغيير هذا الوضع لأن اللعب لـ ريال مدريد بمثابة حلم”.

وواصل: “راتبه جاهز للسنوات الأربع المقبلة، ريال مدريد مقتنع أنه سيحصل على توقيعه، لذا دعونا نرى ما إذا كان يمكن لأي فريق آخر تغيير ذلك”.

وتابع: “قدم ليفربول عرضًا مهمًا لـ ألابا، دعونا نرى ما إذا كان سيغير رأيه لكنني أعتقد أنه سيكون من الصعب على الأندية الإنجليزية الحصول على توقيعه”.

واختتم: “يمكن أن يحدث أي شيء بالنظر إلى أن آلابا سيكون لاعبًا حرًا، لكن لديه اتفاق شفهي مع ريال مدريد لذا سيكون الأمر صعبًا حقًا”.
