Sri Lanka batter Lahiru Thirimanne has announced his retirement from international cricket after a 13-year career.”As a player I have given my best, I have tried my best, I have respected the game and I have done my duty honestly and ethically to my motherland,” Thirimanne posted on Facebook on Saturday.”It was a difficult decision to make, but I cannot mention here the many unexpected reasons that influenced me to take this decision willingly or unwillingly. I take this opportunity to thank the SLC members, my coaches, teammates, physios, trainers and analysts for their support and encouragement.”Thirimanne, 33, played 44 Tests, 127 ODIs and 26 T20Is after making his international debut in 2010. He was part of three T20 World Cup campaigns, including Sri Lanka’s win in 2014, and played two ODI World Cups. He also led Sri Lanka in five ODIs.”Absolute honor to have the opportunity to represent the country,” he posted on Instagram. “Thanks a lot for the 13 years of amazing memories and well wishes thru out my journey (sic). See you on the other side.”His last international match was the Test against India in Bengaluru in March 2022. The last of his three Test centuries came against Bangladesh in 2021 when his 140 helped Sri Lanka win the match in Pallekele. ووفقاً للجدول الزمني المخطط له من جانب نادي برشلونة فإنه إذا سارت الأمور كما هو مخطط لها وتم تركيب السقف خلال صيف 2026، سيقام حفل التدشين وسيتم تكريم ميسي في بداية موسم 2026-2027.

بينما في حالة تعذر إكمال تركيب السقف الصيف المقبل فإن برشلونة سيتجه لتأجيل الحفل حتى اكتمال بناء الملعب، حيث يرغب النادي في إقامة حفل تكريم يليق بإرث ميسي في برشلونة.

وكان ميسي قد بدأ مسيرته الاحترافية مع نادي برشلونة منذ 2003 وحتى عام 2021 قبل أن يرتدي قميص باريس سان جيرمان لمدة عامين ثم إنتر ميامي الأمريكي منذ 2023.

وحقق ليونيل ميسي العديد من الألقاب مع برشلونة 35 لقب ومنهم دوري أبطال أوروبا 4 مرات والدوري الإسباني 10 مرات وكأس العالم للأندية 3 مرات.

وبحسب صحيفة “سبورت”، فإن دييجو كوتشن حارس برشلونة يستعد للسفر إلى آسيا للمشاركة في جولة برشلونة التحضيرية للموسم الجديد ليكون الحارس الثالث خلف جارسيا وتشيزني.

ورغم عدم ظهور كوتشن في المدينة الرياضية لبرشلونة بعد، إلا أن البارسا يسرع من إجراءاته القانونية ليتمكن من الانضمام للفريق في الجولة الآسيوية القادمة.

ويغيب تير شتيجن حارس برشلونة عن الملاعب، وتتمثل الخطة الحالية في بقاء بينا في برشلونة، وسينضم كوتشن لجارسيا وتشيزني في رحلتهما لليابان وكوريا الجنوبية.

وكان من المتوقع أن يبدأ الحارس الأمريكي الشاب في فترة ما قبل بداية الموسم الجديد تحت قيادة جوليانو بيليتي مع الفريق الرديف، ويراه برشلونة بأنه إضافة قوية على المدى الطويل ويرغب في إكسابه الخبرة تحت قيادة هانز فليك.

Em entrevista à Band Sports, o jogador – que chegou na última janela de transferências – contou sobre sua preparação para a classificação e sobre como reagiu a cada pênalti defendido contra o Dragão na decisão.

– O segundo pênalti (do Léo Pereira, na trave), eu estava bem direcionado a fazer a defesa, acertei o lado. O Baralhas, eu cheguei a jogar com ele no Athletico-PR e até gritei com ele ‘bate forte que eu sei que você chuta forte no meio’. Aí ele acabou exagerando na força, colocando a bola para cima e acabou nos ajudando. Mas o segundo pênalti foi na trave, mas acredito que se ela tivesse ido na direção do gol, eu teria feito a defesa também, porque eu acabei acertando o lado do batedor – disse.

O Tricolor chegou para o duelo da volta em desvantagem. No primeiro encontro com a equipe, no estádio Serra Dourada, o São Paulo foi derrotado por 3 a 1. Por conta dos dois gols marcados por Patrick no segundo jogo, a decisão ficou nas penalidades.

Felipe Alves revelou os bastidores após a primeira derrota. Para ele, a equipe de Rogério Ceni reconheceu que poderia ter feito melhor e que o ‘desempenho não foi condizente’. De acordo com o goleiro, este foi um dos incentivos para a postura diferenciada da equipe na decisão.

– Uma semana muito difícil. A gente brinca no futebol que quando você ganha uma partida, você ganha dois, três dias de liberdade. Quando você perde, você fica preso porque a derrota machuca, arranca pedaços, você fica remoendo. No vestiário depois da derrota do primeiro jogo, a gente queria que fosse no outro dia, a gente sabia que poderia ter feito melhor. O resultado não condiz com o que foi o jogo. Já estávamos com esse pensamento e esse foco de reverter a situação, de classificar para a final. A gente sabia da nossa capacidade e do nosso elenco – contou.

Com a volta de Jandrei, que se recuperou de uma fratura na região lombar da coluna, Felipe Alves ficou no banco de reservas nas partidas mais recentes. Porém, com a baixa no desempenho do goleiro que costuma ser titular, o camisa 1 foi o escolhido por Ceni para estar presente no confronto.

Ainda em entrevista à ‘Band Sports’, contou que só ficou sabendo da escalação de fato durante a preleção.

– A gente treina na semana, sempre faz um revezamento. Mas soube que ia jogar assim só na preleção. Rogério prepara todos para serem titular, mas horas antes do jogo ele acaba definindo o time que começa jogando – explicou.

Agora, o desafio do São Paulo na final será contra o Independiente Del Valle. O jogo acontecerá no dia primeiro de outubro, na cidade de Córdoba, na Argentina. Felipe Alves projetou o duelo.

– Nas últimas concentrações a gente acompanhou o jogo deles contra o Melgar. Já tiramos algumas conclusões e características sobre os jogadores e o sistema tático. Toda vez que a gente está concentrado, acompanhamos os nossos próximos adversários. A gente adquire o maior número de recursos possíveis para que, na decisão, possamos tirar proveito e não ser surpreendidos. É final contra um time cascudo, que sabe jogar esse tipo de competição e jogos decisivos – disse.

England Women will take a select group of batters to Mumbai for a training camp after their tied Ashes contest and more recent 2-1 T20I series defeat to Sri Lanka exposed weaknesses against spin that head coach Jon Lewis believes other teams will look to exploit.With a tour of India scheduled at the end of this year followed by the 2024 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and the 50-over version in India in 2025, Lewis said facing spin was a key area his side must improve if they are to contend for trophies.”Off the back of the Ashes, and from what I saw at the World Cup, it’s pretty clear that the way we play spin bowling is a big area for development for us,” Lewis told reporters after Sri Lanka’s seven-wicket victory in Derby on Wednesday night gave the tourists a historic 2-1 series win against England. “And it’s been highlighted here. It’s brilliant exposure for our players to understand this is where you’re at in your cricketing journey, these are the bits of the game that we need to improve.”We’ve got a 20-over World Cup in Bangladesh, we’ve got a tour to India and we’ve got a 50-over World Cup in India. So our next three big challenges in reality, there’s going to be a lot of spin bowled at us. People will watch us play spin and they’ll go, ‘right, okay, we think we can exploit this team in that area’. So I’m really keen to get to work with the girls, and how they play the spin bowling and the options that they have, because there’s there a lot of areas for growth.”Lewis didn’t identify which players would be a part of the camp, but told the BBC it would be held “before some of the girls go off to the Big Bash”. Among the eight England players picked up in the inaugural WBBL draft this week were captain Heather Knight, Danni Wyatt, Alice Capsey, Maia Bouchier, Bryony Smith, Bess Heath and Danielle Gibson. Sciver-Brunt and Beaumont will return for the three-match ODI series, starting in Durham on Saturday, but Lewis expressed no regrets over England’s youth development policy.”We’re trying to work out how we want to play and the mindset we want to go into each game with, and which individuals are capable of doing that,” Lewis said. “And you won’t find that out unless you expose them to international cricket. So the decision-making before the series was very much around trying to give people opportunity who’ve been sat on the edge of our squad or just outside our squad, to try and learn about what they’re capable of under pressure.”Obviously every time we’ve taken some risk in terms of winning, but what we are hopeful of is the opportunities we’ve given the players will generate brilliant coaching conversations and an understanding of where each player is at in terms of themselves on their journey and how they need to develop because we are a developing team.”We’ve got three teenagers out playing for us at the moment, which is fantastic, but they will now go away from this experience and be able to learn about how to improve their game, to be able to become brilliant international cricketers, to be able to dominate the top teams in the world.
