Chelsea have decided they want to sell another 2023 signing alongside Noni Madueke, following the club's capture of Pedro Neto in a £54 million deal from Wolves.
Chelsea ready to sell wingers before summer deadline day
Neto's arrival, coupled with Chelsea's ongoing talks to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, has cast doubt over the futures of some of Enzo Maresca's current wide men.
£200k-per-week star prepared to leave Chelsea after message from Maresca
The Italian’s words have not gone down well.
ByEmilio Galantini Aug 14, 2024
According to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the west Londoners are ready to part company with high-earning forward Raheem Sterling if Felix re-joins Chelsea from Atletico, while Neto's arrival has provided a fresh worry for Madueke over his game time at Stamford Bridge.
Madueke, signed from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, has gone on to make 46 appearances in all competitions – scoring nine goals and assisting three others over that period.
Last season, the 22-year-old racked up eight goals and three assists across 34 total cameos – starting each of Chelsea's final nine Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino as the Blues clinched Europa Conference League qualification.

Despite performing impressively towards the back end of last campaign, reports this week have claimed that Chelsea could in fact sell Madueke for around £40 million, as Newcastle United hold talks with the player's representatives.
It is no coincidence that rumours of a possible Madueke departure have come right after Neto's signing, and if Felix joins Chelsea with his compatriot, there could seemingly be a domino effect of wingers departing to make room for the Portugual internationals.
While both Sterling and Madueke leaving appears a possibility before the transfer cut-off, there is another 2023 signing who may well be sacrificed.
Chelsea want to sell Angelo Gabriel with Madueke after Neto deal
As per BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella, Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel is no longer in Chelsea's long-term plans.
The 19-year-old, signed from Santos last July, spent 2023/2024 on loan at their sister club Strasbourg in France. He has since returned to a host of teammates ahead of him in Maresca's pecking order, and it now appears Chelsea want to sell Gabriel this summer rather than loan him back out again.
Turkish Süper Lig side Besiktas have registered an interest in taking the South American teenager on a permanent deal, but it is believed Todd Boehly and BlueCo prefer to find him a permanent new home, despite only bringing him in 13 months ago.
Gabriel impressed in flashes at Strasbourg last term, bagging four assists across 25 appearances in all competitions.

De Kock remains on leave as Dean Elgar, Temba Bavuma appointed to leadership roles

Quinton de Kock remains central to South African cricket’s plans although there is no indication of when he will be ready to play again.De Kock is on a mental health break and did not take part in the recent CSA domestic T20 Challenge. He is unlikely to feature in the first-class competition this month, and has been relieved of the national captaincy in all formats.”It was felt that the burden of leadership was just too much for a person or a player like Quinton,” said Graeme Smith, Cricket South Africa’s director of cricket. “We wanted to free him up.”His commitment to South African cricket is there. We want to get the best out of him as a player and as a team man. He’ll certainly form part of our leadership group, but we felt this was the right way to move for South African cricket and back a consistent way forward.”Related

De Kock was appointed South Africa’s white-ball captain last February, when Faf du Plessis was removed from the role, and asked to stand-in as temporary Test captain for this summer. He took them to a home series win over Sri Lanka, though his own form suffered, and then defeat in Pakistan, where his unease with the struggles of living in a biosecure environment and leading the team became apparent. On the Pakistan tour, when it was announced that Australia had postponed their three-Test series in South Africa that was due to be played in March, national coach Mark Boucher said de Kock would be released from the burden of Test captaincy as soon as the international season ended. He did not discuss de Kock’s ODI or T20 leadership, but selection convener Victor Mpitsang and Smith have decided it is best for de Kock to also be freed from those roles.”He hasn’t been fired,” Mpitsang said. “The agreement with Quinton when I got into the job was that we needed a Test captain, and it was just an interim job until after the Australian series, which never happened. Quinton probably feels that he needs to focus on his game. I wouldn’t want to see that as a burden because, at the time we made that decision. We’ve come to an agreement to say that he doesn’t need the captaincy any more.”Asked what de Kock’s feelings around being stripped of the captaincy across the board was, Smith acknowledged it would have been tough on him.”There’s always a bit of emotion around these things,” Smith said. “Quinton understands that there’s a burden that comes with leadership. It hasn’t been an easy time for him either. He’s a proud guy. I’m sure there’s a bit of emotions and feelings around this.”We have engaged with Quinton on this and the burden of leadership has been mentioned on a number of occasions. It required us to make a tough and important decision for South African cricket.”Smith and Mpitsang have decided to split the captaincy between Dean Elgar (Tests) and Temba Bavuma (ODIs and T20s) because “we feel it’s a very difficult job to captain in all three formats,” Smith said. “The stresses on one man to do that, the workloads, the job in itself… we felt it was too much to give to one person.”With no Tests scheduled for South Africa until the end of the year, Elgar will have to wait to begin his work, but Bavuma’s starts next month. South Africa host Pakistan for three ODIs and four T20s between April 2 and 16, and could be without several key players, who will be required at the IPL.”That series is very important, especially the one-day series. It’s still the qualifying period for the 50-over World Cup. A few of the T20 players might have to leave earlier, but we’ll still have some players in the T20 side,” Mpitsang said.It is not known whether de Kock will be back to playing at that time, be it for South Africa or the IPL and it is likely his availability will depend on medical advice. De Kock is contracted to the Mumbai Indians.

Over the past couple of days, Chelsea’s transfer business has taken another turn with the news of Sami Omorodion’s deal collapsing.
The striker looked set to move to Stamford Bridge for £35m this summer, but the deal failed to materialise at the 11th hour, with former loanee João Félix now rumoured to be making a remarkable return to the Blues.
Felix spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan in West London, making 20 appearances, scoring four goals in the process – in a loan deal that cost the club a whopping £9.7m.
After his lack of impact at Atlético Madrid, the Portuguese international could make a permanent move to join Enzo Maresca’s side – but it’s unknown how much any potential deal would cost to sign him from Atletico, who forked out £113m for his signature just five years ago.
He would be the latest big-money signing to arrive at the club after compatriot Pedro Neto, but Maresca’s side might be better off signing another attacking talent who is set for a move during this transfer window.
Chelsea's potential Joao Felix alternative
Although interest in Felix appears to be progressing quickly, Chelsea could reignite interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer, after previously expressing their desire to sign the forward.
The Italian winger has been told that he’s not in the plans of new boss Thiago Motta, with the 26-year-old allowed to leave the Serie A outfit before the end of the window on August 30th.
Chelsea, along with Arsenal and Tottenham, have registered interest in a move, with the attacker – who scored nine league goals last season – potentially able to leave the Italian giants for just £25m. A bargain in today’s market.
It’s a shock to see the talented winger out of favour after his impressive season in 2023/24, with Chiesa a better option than one first-team asset currently plying his trade at Chelsea.
Why Chiesa would be better than Sterling for Chelsea
It’s safe to say that winger Raheem Sterling hasn’t had the impact many would’ve expected after his £50m move to Stamford Bridge during the summer of 2022.
He’s only scored 19 times in 81 appearances after his big-money move, even being booed and jeered off the pitch following his abysmal display against Leicester City in the FA Cup last season.
Raheem Sterling
However, despite his poor recent form, Juventus have registered interest in signing the one-time England international in recent days, with the move presenting an opportunity for the Blues to cut their losses on the 29-year-old.
The deal between the two clubs could see Chiesa being included in a swap plus cash move from the Italian side, with the current Juve man undoubtedly a better option for Maresca’s side for the 2024/25 campaign.
When comparing the duo in FBref, Sterling is unable to match the 26-year-old in various key areas – showcasing why the Blues must look to try and sign the Italian in any sale of the former Manchester City ace.

The “extraordinary” ace, as described by David Trezeguet, may have registered fewer combined goals and assists, but he did manage more shot-creating actions and shots per 90 than Sterling, demonstrating the quality he has in the final third.
He also has a higher take-on success rate whilst managing to get more shots on target per 90 – proving that he’s more accurate with the changes presented than the current Chelsea man.
Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.
This summer is huge for new boss Maresca as he looks to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge, with it being crucial that he gets the recruitment spot on.
Chiesa would provide a lot of qualities that could allow the Blues to push for a return to a Champions League place, whilst also allowing the club to conduct a deal that would see joint-highest earner Sterling leave the club – freeing up vital funds for the final weeks of the window.
With Felix having already tried and failed to sparkle in west London, seeking out a quality alternative like the Juve outcast could prove a far wiser move.
Chelsea hit gold on amazing star who's worth more than Omodorion & Felix
Believe it or not, Chelsea have actually achieved some great business during the Todd Boehly era.

Everton have agreed a deal to bring a 6ft 5 player to Goodison Park, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Over the weekend, the Toffees began their Premier League campaign with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. This will not have been the start that Sean Dyche would have wanted, as he tries to avoid a repeat of last season’s troubles.
Everton could repeat their Iwobi masterclass in move for "remarkable" star
Sean Dyche will be desperate to land a couple of new signings between now and the end of the month
ByRoss Kilvington Aug 19, 2024 Everton’s summer signings
The Merseyside club has been very busy in this transfer window so far, as Everton try to put together a squad that sees them move away from the relegation places and back to competing in the top half.
Everton secured their Premier League status towards the end of last season, but it is now down to Dyche and co to improve the club and avoid a situation like that again. Therefore, it has been no surprise to see Everton react in this transfer window like they have, as the club hopes new arrivals can help them improve and become a better team.
So far in this summer transfer window, Everton have added five new players to their squad, and they include Jack Harrison returning on loan once again from Leeds United, Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, Jake O’Brien from Lyon, and Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli.
Lindstrom joined the Toffees on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the club then having the option to buy him. While, as stated, Harrison has also joined the club on a loan deal, the three other signings have cost the club a hefty amount of money so far this summer.

These arrivals come amid Everton also seeing a handful of players leave the club for a decent amount of money. The club has sold midfielder Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, while Ben Godfrey has joined Italian side Atalanta, and Lewis Dobbin has also joined Villa.
But with still over a week left of the transfer window, Everton could be about to add to their five arrivals so far with a fresh addition in their goalkeeping department.
Everton are in talks to sign Asmir Begovic
According to Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam, Bosnia and Herzegovina international Asmir Begovic was in talks with Everton over a potential return to the football club.
Begovic signed for the Toffees in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer after leaving AFC Bournemouth, and he went on to spend two years at the club before leaving in 2023 to join QPR.
Asmir Begovic for Everton.
The goalkeeper is now a free agent once again after leaving the Rs at the end of last season, and according to this update, he could be set to re-join Everton, as his experience in the dressing room could be key for Dyche and this Everton team.
The 37-year-old spent the last 12 months with the West London side, as he played 46 times for the club in all competitions, 45 of which came in the Championship. Begovic kept 13 clean sheets in the second tier last season, as he played a big role in QPR beating the drop and staying in the Championship.
Now, Romano has said that a one-year deal has been agreed, with a medical due this week.
The 6ft 5 goalkeeper was labelled “fantastic” by QPR boss Marti Cifuentes last season, as he helped the club secure a 1-0 win, which helped them on their way to safety.
