– Confiança no trabalho.

Capitals, RCB alive despite slip-up, Kings XI need to win, KKR need to also improve NRR
S Rajesh29-Oct-2020
With two league games each left in IPL 2020, it’s still all up for grabs for everyone but CSK•BCCI
Kolkata Knight Riders: Played 12, Points 12, NRR -0.479 The Kolkata Knight Riders have two games left against the bottom two teams, starting with one against the Chennai Super Kings on Thursday. Two wins will take them to 16, which will give them a shot at the last four. But their problem is their net run rate (NRR) of -0.479, which is the worst among the five teams that could reach 16 points. The Delhi Capitals’ comprehensive defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad has helped the Knight Riders close the gap between their NRRs, but there is still some distance between them and the four teams above them. The Kings XI Punjab are the closest, but their NRR will improve too if they win their remaining two games and reach 16.So here’s what the Knight Riders should hope for: win both games – by reasonable margins if possible – and then pray that one of those four teams don’t reach 16. Even if they lose to the Super Kings on Thursday, the Knight Riders can still make it with 14 points without NRR coming into play, if several other results go their way. Should it, however, come down to NRR, the Knight Riders will almost certainly lose out.Mumbai Indians: Played 12, Points 16, NRR 1.186 Thanks to their excellent NRR, the Mumbai Indians are all but through to the playoffs. It’s almost certain that they will also finish in the top two. That is because only one of the Capitals or the Royal Challengers can finish on 18, and in a battle among teams tied on 16, Mumbai are too far ahead on NRR.Royal Challengers Bangalore: Played 12, Points 14, NRR 0.048 Despite Wednesday’s defeat to Mumbai, the Royal Challengers are still reasonably placed to finish in the top four if they win one of their two remaining matches. However, if they lose both and stay on 14, then they will need several other results going their way to qualify.Delhi Capitals: Played 12, Points 14, NRR 0.030 Their huge defeat to the Sunrisers has made their qualification task far tougher and, to add to that, their last two games are against the top two teams. A win in one of their two remaining games should still see them reasonably placed for qualification, but they can’t afford another meltdown like the one against the Sunrisers. If, for instance, they win a game by five runs and lose the other by 60, and if the Knight Riders win their last two by an aggregate margin (the sum of the margins of their two wins) of 70 runs, then the Capitals will fall behind the Knight Riders on NRR.The Capitals can qualify even with 14 points without NRR coming into play, but for that to happen, several other results will need to go their way.Kings XI Punjab: Played 12, Points 12, NRR -0.049 The Kings XI Punjab are on a five-match winning streak, but they will want to extend that to seven and secure their place in the playoffs. Thanks to a reasonable NRR of -0.049 – and the Knight Riders’ poor NRR – they will be in an excellent position to qualify if they finish on 16.Even if they win their last two games by the extremely narrow margin of one run each, the Knight Riders will have to win their two remaining matches by an aggregate run margin of around 105 runs to go ahead of the Kings XI on NRR.If the Kings XI lose one of their matches and finish on 14, they can still make the playoffs without NRRs coming into play, but for that to happen several other results will have to go their way.Sunrisers Hyderabad: Played 12, Points 10, NRR 0.396 For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the equation is simple: win their two remaining games, and hope that at least two of the five teams who can get to 16 don’t reach there. Their NRR of 0.396 will stand them in good stead against all the teams that might finish on 14.Mumbai beating the Royal Challengers was a good result for the Sunrisers (and for the other teams in the fray), because Mumbai are the only team ahead of the Sunrisers on NRR. That result means three places are still up for grabs.Rajasthan Royals: Played 12, Points 10, NRR -0.505 Given the Rajasthan Royals’ poor NRR of -0.505, they might struggle if that becomes the deciding factor (though their rate will improve with two wins). However, it is possible for them to qualify on 14 points without NRR coming into play, if other results go their way – that includes the Kings XI losing both their remaining matches, the Sunrisers winning no more than one, and the Super Kings beating the Knight Riders. For all that to become relevant, though, the Royals will have to win their two games.
Celtic have just over two months left to bolster their playing squad before the summer transfer window, which opened earlier this month, slams shut.
The Hoops are yet to make their first signing of the summer as they prepare to strengthen Brendan Rodgers' team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
They are coming off the back of winning a domestic double last season in the Northern Irish head coach's first year back in the dugout at Parkhead.
The Bhoys secured the Scottish Premiership title for the third year in succession and then won the SFA Cup, with a 1-0 win over Rangers at Hampden Park, thanks to a goal from loanee Adam Idah.
It was recently reported that Celtic want to sign the Irish striker on a permanent deal but Norwich's new manager, Johannes Hoff Thorup, wants to take a look at him in pre-season before making a decision on his future.
If they fail to convince the Canaries to part ways with the 6 foot 3 marksman then they could go into next season with Kyogo Furuhashi as their main source of goals once again.
They could land the Japan international an exciting partner at the top end of the pitch to ease the goalscoring burden as they are reportedly in the market to land a new forward.
Celtic's interest in exciting young winger
According to GhanaSoccerNet, Celtic are one of a number of clubs competing to land a deal for Sogndal Fotball winger Edmund Baidoo this summer.
The report claims that there is 'significant' interest in his signature from several teams thanks to his impressive form in the second tier in Norway this year.
It states that Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have made their move to speak with the player and his representatives ahead of a possible transfer.
GhanaSoccerNet adds that Leeds United, Celtic, and Club Brugge are also in the mix to sign the talented youngster to bolster their attacking ranks.
The report also reveals that his contract does not expire until the summer of 2027 and this means that Sogndal are under little pressure to cash in on him.
Although, it remains to be seen how much the Norwegian side are likely to demand for the teenage whiz, amid interest from a host of clubs across Europe this summer.
If the Hoops can strike an agreement with them and win the race for his signature then they could land an exciting partner for Kyogo in the Premiership next season, if the young talent can make the step up to Scottish football.
Kyogo Furuhashi's struggles last season
You could have forgiven Celtic supporters for expecting big things from the Japanese forward last season after his terrific performances under Ange Postecoglou the previous year.
He had just won the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award for the 2022/23 campaign after a staggering return of 27 goals in 31 Premiership appearances.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old attacker could not replicate that success under Rodgers last term as he struggled in front of goal throughout the 2023/24 season.

As you can see in the table above, the Japan international's form fell off a cliff from the 2022/23 campaign to last term, with his goalscoring touch seemingly deserting him.
Kyogo spurned a staggering 24 'big chances' and only found the back of the net 14 times in his 38 games, whilst he underperformed his xG of 18.39 by 4.39 – the largest underperformance in the squad.
This shows that the experienced dud did not make the most of the chances that his teammates were consistently creating for him in the Premiership.
Kyogo Furuhashi
His lack of form in the final third meant that Celtic needed their wingers to step up and make up for his struggles by getting on the scoresheet themselves.
Unfortunately, however, Daizen Maeda and Luis Palma only combined for 13 league goals between them and Nicolas Kuhn managed two in 14 outings after his January move from Rapid Wien.
Rodgers, though, could now land a winger with the potential to provide a bigger goal threat from the flank by securing a deal to sign Baidoo to ease the pressure on Kyogo to be a consistent goalscorer for the Scottish giants.
Why Celtic should sign Edmund Baidoo
The Hoops should swoop to sign the 18-year-old phenom as his form in the second division in Norway this term suggests that the potential is here for him to develop into a fantastic attacker.
It is worth adding that this move would be a risk for the Premiership champions, though, as he is a teenage talent who is yet to play in a top-flight or in a major European country, which means that there is no guarantee that his form will translate over to Scotland.
However, his sublime form during the 2024 campaign suggests that it is a risk worth taking as he could emerge as a brilliant, and much-needed, partner for Kyogo at the top end of the pitch.
The young whiz, who only turned 18 in January, has enjoyed an eye-catching start to the season with Sogndal, with Norway's leagues running through a calendar year, rather than from August to May.

As you can see in the table above, the Ghana-born starlet has provided a strong goal threat from the right wing with a conversion rate of 19% – better than Kyogo's 14% in the Premiership last season.
The right-footed ace has racked up eight goals and six assists, 14 involvements, in 17 appearances in all competitions this term, which is a direct goal contribution every 1.21 matches on average.
Baidoo, who GhanaSoccerNet founder Sannie Daara lauded as "in-form", has showcased his ability to score and create goals at an impressive rate, but in the second tier in Norway.
Celtic could forget Idah in swoop for SPFL star who's "unplayable at times"
The Hoops are reportedly interested in a deal for the centre-forward this summer.

If he can carry that goalscoring form over to the Premiership then he could be the efficient goalscorer from the wing that the Hoops need to make up for Kyogo's struggles.

How does one set about explaining the languid displays of England's national football team in Germany this summer?
Well, you won't find us throwing out too many superlatives. Indeed, criticism has been rife from all quarters over the first fortnight on the competition, despite topping Group C and making it through to the last 16 of Euro 2024.
Vitally, though, Gareth Southgate's men have found themselves on the right side of the draw, avoiding potentially tricky ties with Spain, Germany, France and Portugal until the final, if they even get there.
Speaking in the aftermath of that drab 0-0 draw with Slovenia, the England boss admitted that it was a strange environment. That's hardly a surprise. After all, while supporters have serenaded the former defender in recent tournaments, this time he was having beer cups thrown at him from the stands.
We don't condone that for one minute but it sums up the feeling around the country now.
Yes, there was a bit more purpose and a bit energy to their performance against Slovenia but come on, they should be beating these sides with ease.
They've got Harry Kane, they've got Phil Foden and they've got Jude Bellingham. Sadly, that have combined for just two goals in total.
So, how can this be fixed? It's going to take a bit more than just a few personnel changes, surely? Nonetheless, let's take a look at the alterations the manager could make for the clash with Slovakia on Sunday afternoon.
1 Kobbie Mainoo
Declan Rice is set to be handed his third midfield partner in just four games this weekend. The experiment of Trent Alexander-Arnold in central areas lasted just a game and a half before Conor Gallagher was handed the spot.
Sadly for the Chelsea star, he was hauled off at half-time in the final group game, replaced by Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo. The teenager, who didn't make his Three Lions debut until a few months ago immediately looked at ease in the role.
He appeared higher up the pitch, was keen to create and gave his country a lot more energy. During his second half cameo, Mainoo completed 97% of his passes and won two of his five ground duels. Impressive work given the state of England's system and fluidity right now.

2 Cole Palmer
Cast your minds back to the summer of 2021 and there was a clamour when the going got tough for the effervescent Jack Grealish to come on and change the game. He wasn't a starter but had the power to influence things as a substitute. That's what feels like could happen with Cole Palmer in the back end of this tournament.
Remarkably, the Premier League's Young Player of the Season had to wait until the final quarter of the game last Tuesday for his first minutes but boy did he impress. In fact, he probably could and should have won the game for England, missing a one on one from inside the penalty area late in the game.
It was probably the best position any forward player had got into in the game but his cameo was more than just golden moment. He looked tricky and unpredictable on the right hand side, replacing Bukayo Saka, but whether he starts in that role on Sunday remains to be seen.
You could make a harsh case for taking Saka out of the team or you could play him on the left, with Palmer coming in on the right. Either way, the latter simply has to earn more minutes if Southgate wants his team to go far.

3 Anthony Gordon
It's safe to say that Anthony Gordon's pre-match preparations for this game have hardly been ideal. Attempting to film himself on a bike earlier in the week, the winger came head first over the bike and landed on his chin. Battered and bruised, the Newcastle star has laughed things off and should get more minutes now in Germany. He'll be hoping once he does that he can kick a ball better than he can ride.
It was totally baffling that he was only afforded the last few minutes in Cologne on Tuesday but he showed more energy and penetration in that fleeting cameo than most England players have in the whole competition.
His first action was to run the ball out of play but it was the explosive nature that he immediately looked to get at the full-back which got many in the crowd off their seat.
Gordon was then vital to that late chance Palmer had. Driving inside he played a lovely ball through the centre of the pitch, taking several Slovenian players out of the game.
It's easy to see why there is such an appeal for the Toon winger to start. Unlike Foden, he wants to stay out wide and get at his man. Vitally, he's also a runner, someone who will get in behind. Captain Kane would certainly benefit from that.
So, it's over to you Southgate. Make changes or England will continue to struggle.
How England can solve their Harry Kane conundrum
Harry Kane has underperformed at Euro 2024 so far.
After failing to secure promotion from the Championship last season, it now appears that Leeds United's ability to sign new players will rely on first selling existing talents.
Leeds will have to sell stars before they can buy
The unfortunate reality for much of the Elland Road faithful will be that their failure to secure promotion will likely mean the end for many stars' Leeds United careers.
£15 million Leeds United star now ready to quit as Dortmund eye deal
He wants to jump ship after promotion failure.
ByEmilio Galantini Jun 8, 2024
A recent report has suggested that Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto all remain likely to leave Elland Road this summer with each player attracting interest from numerous clubs. The Whites have reportedly already rejected a £30 million bid from Brighton for Rutter.
Summerville has been the most in demand of the trio with the majority of sides in the Premier League holding interest in the player at some point during the window. The most recent rumours have linked Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Liverpool with moves for the Dutch winger.
Gnonto has also attracted topflight interest with Everton appearing as the most likely destination for the Italian. The Toffees were eager to agree a deal for Gnonto last summer so it seems logical for the club to reignite their interest this summer.
With Leeds making no attempt to hide their need to sell players this summer, it appears that the club have finally managed to get an out of favour player out of the door at Elland Road.
Wantaway Leeds star agrees deal to leave
As first reported by Football Insider's Wayne Veysey, Diego Llorente has agreed personal terms with Real Betis ahead of a move away from Leeds United.
The Spanish defender has long been linked with a transfer away from Elland Road this summer with this most recent development seemingly bringing the saga to an end. Llorente is expected to undergo a medical in Spain in the coming days with the transfer set to be completed before the end of this week.
Leeds defender Diego Llorente.
This recent development follows the news from last week that Leeds had rejected an offer from Betis for Llorente. Veysey's update suggests that the two clubs have now been able to agree on a price for the Spaniard.
Llorente is set to call time on his spell in Yorkshire after four years with the club. The 30-year-old played a key role in Leeds' most recent time in the Premier League, but was loaned out to AS Roma when the Whites were relegated to the Championship at the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.
Diego Llorente in action for Roma.
With Llorente's current deal with Leeds set to run until the summer of 2026, getting the 30-year-old's wages off the books would save the club a cumulative figure in the region of £4.7million over the remainder of his deal.
Whilst few expected Llorente to be lining up at Elland Road again anytime soon, it will be a relief for many of the Leeds faithful to see Llorente depart the club and funds freed up ready for new signings.
